All property owners who want to pipe a ditch closed, must have a valid Village permit. The Village Administrator or the Street Department Superintendent shall determine the size of the pipe and the catch basins necessary to complete the work.
The Village Street Department Superintendent will not pipe a ditch closed for the property owner. The property owner or private contractor must perform this work. The property owner must strictly adhere to the Village's standards and specifications for this work. Failure to meet the Village's standards will result in the removal of the pipe by the Village Street Department. All associated costs of this removal may be charged to the property owner.
Standards and Specifications
1) The Administrator or Street Superintendent shall determine pipe size.
2) A catch basin shall be installed on the uphill side of the driveway.
3) Catch basins shall also be installed for every sixty feet of the driveway.
4) The Village Administrator or Street Superintendent shall determine the number of catch basins.
5) The Village Administrator or Street Superintendent must approve the materials for the project.
6) The Village Administrator or Street Superintendent must inspect the installation before the pipe is backfilled. Failure to have the installation inspected may result in the Village removing the pipe.
7) Catch basins shall have a minimum of 4 square feet of opening. (2' x 2' grate)
Approved Materials
The property owner shall provide one of the following types of pipe and all necessary items for the installation of the pipe.
1) Double walled, polyethylene plastic pipe
2) Single walled, corrugated metal pipe
3) Reinforced concrete pipe
The property owner shall provide one of the following types of catch basin(s) and all necessary items for the installation of the catch basin.
1) Precast concrete catch basin
2) Concrete block catch basin
3) Plastic polyethylene catch basin
Maintenance
The property owner shall be responsible for all maintenance of the pipe and catch basin(s). If the property owner does not properly maintain the pipe, the Village Street Department will remove it. |
