Water

The Leetonia Water System has been purchasing its water supply from the City of Salem since 2008 and provides water to approximately 760 service connections. The village owns & maintains its own water distribution system consisting of one 50,000 gallon elevated water storage tank, one 450,000 gallon ground level covered storage reservoir, 6 pressure reducing stations & 2 master meters. There are approximately 20.37 miles of water lines within the village, 172 hydrants and 217 main line valves throughout the system.

Water Quality

The Village of Leetonia routinely tests a minimum of twice per month for total coliform bacteria in the water distribution system.

In 2015, a total trihalomethane (TTHM) removal system was added to the in-ground storage reservoir to aid in the removal of TTHMs before entering the distribution system. We currently monitor TTHM and HAA5 (total haloacetic acids) 4 times per year at points designated by the Ohio EPA. Since the removal system was installed, we have not had any TTHM violations.

Lead sampling is currently conducted once per year at 10 locations at specified sites which meet Ohio EPA requirements throughout the village.

Hydrant Flushing

Hydrant flushing is conducted once per year during warm weather months. Hydrants are flushed to clean the water lines and ensure that hydrants are working properly. Hydrant flushing typically takes 15 minutes to up to an hour per hydrant so the course of work may last several weeks. Water discoloration and low water pressure may occur during this time.

Sewer

Leetonia public sewer utility currently serves around 702 connections through 10.5 miles of gravity collection mains. There are 207 manholes and two lift stations in the village. Wastewater is treated through an extended aeration process with tertiary treatment and final discharge to the East Branch of the Middle Fork of Little Beaver Creek.

In addition:

Water discoloration & pressure complaints as well as sewer issues should be directed to the Superintendent of Utilities at 330-427-8087.

Billing and Payments

The Village of Leetonia has changed the way we are billing Water and Sewer.  The rates are still the same and the minimum rate is still the same; however, anything over the minimum usage will be billed in gallons rather than 1,000 gallons.  With the installation of the new meters and the new meter program this allows us to bill by the actual water used during the month.  When we bill in thousands, you had to wait until you used the 1,000 gallons to be billed for it.  This caused fluctuations in the amount billed and caused some customers problems.  Now, you will know how much you use monthly and you will be billed for the exact amount of water you use.  Billing in gallons will now allow for a more consistent bill with no more guessing on your monthly water usage.  If you have any questions regarding the billing process, please call the Water Office at (330) 427-6720.

Online Billing and Payments

Our new Web Portal is https://leetonia.authoritypay.com

Through this link you can view your payments, bills and usage graph.  You can also pay your bill online through your checking or with a debit or credit card.  If using a debit/credit card, you are responsible for paying the convenience fee ($3.00 or 2.45% if over $122.00).

You are required to have an email address and your entire bill in order to register.  Your account number and CID are located in the upper right corner of your bill and both are necessary to sign up online.

After registering and receiving your verification email, log back in to proceed.

Your payment will show up as pending until it is processed, this may take 24 hours.  If using your checking account (ACH) the payment will be credited to your utility account on the due date and will be debited to your bank account within two (2) banking days.

You can also sign up to receive an e-bill rather than having your bill mailed to you each month.

No one can look at anyone else's information/account, only the person who has set up the online account and has the password.  Should you have any questions, please call the Water Office at (330) 427-6720.
